Vaginal Pessary (prolapse support)

Vaginal prolapse is a common condition, affecting up to one in three women at some stage of life, in varying degrees. It occurs when the vaginal wall or another pelvic organ moves out of its normal position, often as a result of pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, heavy lifting, or changes in pelvic floor strength. Symptoms can include discomfort, pressure, or urinary leakage, and can have a significant impact on daily life.

A vaginal pessary is a soft, medical-grade silicone device used to provide internal support and relieve symptoms of vaginal or pelvic organ prolapse. It is a non-invasive treatment option that can reduce discomfort and help improve quality of life, either as a long-term management option or while awaiting surgery.

The most commonly used type is a ring pessary, which provides gentle support to the vaginal wall and can be used across different stages of prolapse. Pessaries are also effective in helping manage stress urinary incontinence, such as leakage when coughing, laughing, or exercising.
